Weight Loss After Job Loss.

A few of my friends will be unfortunately dealing with this in the very near future. I know how hard it is to deal with change  in general, especially when it is unwanted or uninitiated. Taking care of yourself becomes even more critical in times of high stress so go for a walk, go to the gym. Whatever you do, don’t fall into the trap of sitting at home letting the situation control you. Easier said than done I know, but important none the less.

There are several challenges that await those who have found themselves packing up their cubicles and walking out of the office for the last time. It can be hard focusing on anything other than the job situation, and it’s a time when many people fall into the trap of thinking that taking care of their bodies is a trivial occupation in the grand scheme of things.

Think about how different the world is now than when we grew up. Just today I had to explain that when I was a kid, we couldn’t even pause a TV to go to the bathroom. As IF!!

My daughter’s worldview and life will be shaped in very deliberate ways by technologies like the Kindle and the new magical high-tech gadgets coming out this year…She’ll know nothing other than a world with digital books,  video chats with faraway relatives, and toddler-friendly video games on the iPhone. She’ll see the world a lot differently from her parents.

How sad. A few years back I saw some report on 60 minutes about the pressures that women from certain countries feel to be thin and the lengths that they go to so they can fit into what they think is wanted.

Eighty-three percent of those polled in Brazil said they felt the pressure to be slimmer, followed by India (68 percent), the U.S. (62 percent) and France (55 percent)

So I used to use Agave Nectar as my sweetener of choice. Not after reading articles like this and how processed it really is. Slapping Organic on it doesn’t mean it’s good for you. It’s something I have to continually remind myself about.

I related to this article in so many ways. I was just talking to my mom over the holidays and we both remarked how nice it was to be getting back to our normal life. It’s the little things that mean so much after going through the cancer journey.

  1. That agave nectar article is so interesting. I have some lovely “organic” “raw” agave nectar in my cabinet right now. Guess I won’t be using that.
