Happy Birthday MLK, Jr – a True Hero

Today is actually Martin Luther King, Jr’s birth date and it  would have been his 81st.  He continues to be a real definition of a hero. He put himself on the line for so many others. Now a days, most people are so busy dealing with their own daily lives that even putting yourself out there to help your close circle can seem daunting. Imagine doing what he did for a whole group of people!

Martin Luther King
He led a mass struggle for racial equality that doomed segregation and changed America forever

I often think about whether what he did is even really possible in today’s world.  I like to think so, but have my doubts. But I do want to take a moment and acknowledge my own heroes and inspirations today in honor of MLK Jr.

1. Scotty – he inspires me daily. His outlook on life is so positive and warm. After the few years he has dealt with, you would think it would be jaded. But no way. He rarely looks at things in a negative way. It takes some getting used to, but it has helped me grow.

2. Dr John Marshall –  What a great, great Dr. He has taught us that working with your Dr is a team effort. Dr’s are not demi-gods but are people just like everyone else.  Of course, he has guided us through our chemo treatment and we are better because of it.

3. The Ladies of Plumbline Training – I could not have asked for a more perfect group of women to inspire me and lead me on a daily basis.  Each one is unique and has their own story to tell, and together we make one friggin powerful team who kick ass on a regular basis.  They are one of the reasons I am where I am today. I have met the most wonderful people through this journey, which was not something I even expected.

So , those are just some of my inspirations and heroes. Take a moment today to think about  who pushes you for the better, leads you, mentors you on a regular basis to help create a better you?
