An all Kinds of Awesome Workout

Friday means the weekend is almost here!! And I am so glad to see it — long week, lots of work to do, lots of home stuff going on. I know I have said this before, but in a lot of ways I am so happy I do workout. I can not imagine what I would do for a release if I didn’t do a hard workout —

warmup
200m run

corex2
leg shadows
6in flutters
back head extentions
general stretching
30 push ups

workoutx2
hip extensions w/ 25lb KB
burpees w/ 25lb vest
figure 8′s w/ 35lb KB
OH Squats 95lb
hang clean squats 75lb

pt station
15,12,9
450m run each round
65lb Front Squat
push-up x 2

Mikey had me try an OH Squat with 95lbs and I really struggled. He said in theory I should be able to lift my own body weight with an OH squat. I can’t even imagine that at this point — and first round, I did ZERO reps, 2nd round — I adjusted my form and managed to do 4 at 95lbs.  A lot of it is mental too — if you aren’t in the right mental state when lifting, you are not at your full potential.  I find that when I am working out and trying something new – my mind is way more powerful and stronger than my body.  I tend to get very in my head when I am trying something new or challenging and it can really hold me back.  Today – it prevented me from doing a hang clean squat with 85lbs — 75lbs was no problem at all — but no way, no how was 85lbs going to work and it was all in my head. It’s very frustrating!!!

Now that the rain here in Northern VA has subsided –Here’s to the weekend!!

I heard this yesterday and have re-played it over and over again and I wanted to share. It’s all kinds of Awesome — especially for those of us that grew up in the early days of hip hop/rap.
