Stop, Clean & Jerk

It’s important to stop and appreciate all you have daily. This morning – I included a pic of my kids getting ready to leave for school this morning. They bring me so much joy and teach me so much every day. I can’t imagine my life without these 2 rascals and I am glad I don’t have to!

The b&b welts on my shoulders are really painful  from the max lifts we did on Wednesday evening. Nothing like having bruises all over your body to make you feel like a bad-ass! At least that’s what I am telling myself.

Today’s workout was 7 rounds of 1 rep of heavy weight — Push Jerk.  My body is hurtin’ from the heavy work it has done this week — so it wasn’t easy this morning!

Warmup
15 35lb KB swing
15 jump squat
15 pushups

Skill
clean jerk

WOD
1-1-1-1-1-1-1
push jerk
53-53-53-83-83-83-83lb
I’m having a tough time with the clean squats. The transition from a clean to the squat is tough. You need to keep your arms straight, shrug and then squat underneath it. I keep bending my arms way too early but if I stop and think about it, then I lose the momentum of the lift.  I am such a thinker when it comes to these lifts — I know I will get it but it just frustrates me!!!

I know I keep saying this but I really love Crossfit Impavidus. They are such a great group of people — all there to see you succeed.  I love that they have different trainers too – each one has their own style with the same workouts so you can go to a class with one and it is completely different when you go to the same workout with a different coach. Both great – but since they do their own warmups and post workout stretching, you are getting a different approach.  It’s exactly what i needed to help me get my excitement and inspiration back!
