Fill Up Your Inspiration Tank

When was the last time you filled up your inspiration tank? Did something that really got your motor revving, got you excited, more motivated to move on? It’s something that so many of us don’t really stop and think about. We are stuck in the rut of living our lives but for every aspect of our lives, there are times when we need to stop, breathe and find something that inspires us or gives us the sign that we are doing the right thing.

I’ve been working out for almost 4 years straight — it’s part of my DNA now but there are times throughout the year where I just get burned out – or I’m raring to go but ultimately leave my workouts disappointed by my performance. What the heck is wrong with me? is the question that goes through my head. I know that’s the time when I need to take break, breathe and find some inspiration. I read other blogs, I go have some fun, take a trip, find inspiration in others’ words, and sometimes it’s seeing progress. The kipping pull up success for me has really given me a much needed boost. I feel so proud and just like a rock star about it. To most, it’s probably not a huge deal, but for this life-long couch potato who realized how much she loves fitness and health – it’s HUGE!

But that’s completely fitness related – there are many other areas of our lives where we need a good kick in the ass – aka shot of inspiration – to help us refocus on the joy of what we are doing, why we are doing it, and the result of what we do day in and day out. We get so weighed down with the shit and the hardships, that we forget to see the shining examples of what brings us happiness. Am I getting to schmultzy?  Probably, but I tend to find a lot of peace and inner quiet when I am reminded of what’s important in my life and focus on the parts of what I am doing, day in and day out, that make me happy. Let’s face it – there is so much of what happens to us that we can’t change, so we can choose to spend all day focused on that crap or focused on the stuff that sustains us. It’s a CHOICE.

Stories like Tim Tebow or Jeremy Lin certainly give so many hope and joy – and they really aren’t that unusual in every day life. Sure those two are famous, in the lime-light athletes – but there are many underdog stories out there that we can hang our hats on to help keep our spirits up. I love stories of people that just surprise the shit out of everyone – and prove you can’t judge a book by its cover!

This weekend – choose to see the positive in everything and see how it goes….
