Every Thought Is A Seed – Remember that!

I love the weather that the DC area is having right now — 60s-70s spring may be here! It’s odd though, we haven’t had any snow and it’s been really mild. Creeps me out a bit that our weather can be so drastically different. That can’t be good.

This past weekend, Scott took some great shots of our teams doing the Open and  I found myself critically looking at the pics of me but this time — I consciously changed my filter on them to focus on how strong I looked. I am not built to be Elle McPherson — and that’s that. I will never been tall, lean – I am short and strong and muscles definitely look better than rolls of fat on me so I kept telling myself that. Not many 40+ year olds have pics of themselves in a fitness Open like that. Most of my friends don’t, well except my CF friends and the pics of the other girls – most of them are in their late 20s-mid 30s. So I am definitely on par with them and appreciate the strength I am showing and how far I have come. I think there is a piece of me that wants so badly to be this long, lean athlete and when I see the pics of the reality, it’s startling…

I read this quote this morning and it fits in perfectly with what I am talking about – and why I am really working on self acceptance.
