I seriously feel like I could sleep for days. When I got home yesterday – I took an 1.5 hour nap, got up for a bit and went to bed at 9p. It was super hard to get up this morning and for a brief moment, I thought about hitting snooze. Heck I did hit snooze, but four minutes into it, I got up. I am so inspired and motivated again to do the work, that I want to get my workout in. Now that I am seeing real results, I want to see how far it will take me. It’s so awesome to be this excited again. And not to brag, but my shoulders and arms are looking quite cut.
I have written before about my friend Lidia and how inspiring and strong she is. Frankly, she’s amazing and can’t possibly be human! Here is a video I found online from this year’s CrossFit Games of her getting a PR! Another example of how amazing she is –
I am going to see a bunch of people I haven’t seen in years tomorrow at a BBQ planned six months ago. When I worked at AOL and the Kids area – KOL -they were such a tight group and the lot of them are gathering at someone’s house to reconnect. I am so excited and happy that someone took the initiative to set this up and stick with it. We don’t do nearly enough re-connecting in person in the age of technology in my humble opinion. So my advice to you for this upcoming week – -reconnect with someone! You would be surprised at the joy it can bring you!
Today we did some strength maintenance – so it was bench press. And then a Met-con workout -they never seem to get easier!

I struggled a bit with today’s workout. The feeling of having to struggle through a workout is not something I enjoy obviously and think I should have dropped the weight at the onset so I could get through it without it feeling like torture. There is next time…
So I am sure most of you have seen all over facebook and the web about the first workout of the CrossFit Games. It’s burpees – 7 minutes of burpees. They really aren’t my favorite exercise but I like that anyone can do them.

8:34 time. I came in last and yes, it irked me. I struggled with the OHS today, felt like I had no power to hold it above my head. I am sure it had to do with not having a break since last Thursday. YA THINK??!! I’m off tomorrow to rest up for my burpees — ahh rest.
I gotta be honest — I am feeling overwhelmed. It’s the busy season for my company, and especially my team which handles new parents enrolling their families in online schools. As a fellow parent, I know it’s stressful sending the kids to school and I can only imagine the extra stress these parents are under, learning a new way to educate their kids. So it’s really rewarding helping them –however you can feel their stress and anxiety, so it’s tough.
So I’m busy at work –home life is busy too. Kids are back in school in a few short weeks. I had to scramble to find the kids camps for next week. Apparently even though school doesn’t start yet, camps stop offering sessions a week prior. What are working parents supposed to do?
And on that note — what’s up with camps ending at 330p? Can’t they do at least 4p? I want my kids to be able to experience some of the super fun camps but does it have to be at my expense. I have to leave an hour earlier this week to pick HB up from her camp at 330p. That’s really the middle of my day. It’s very frustrating. Camp is super expensive and if they do offer after care — it costs extra. It’s hard on parents —
I am also feeling overwhelmed just with the house in general. I can’t seem to keep it clean no matter what i do. I am trying to carve out time each weekend with Nate and HB to go through their rooms — organize, declutter and get ready for a new school year. It’s not the doing it –it’s finding the time to do it. That’s the issue with a lot of what I want to do at my house — not enough hours in the day and weekends go by way too fast. I am sure I am not alone –it just gets to be overwhelming at times. I want to do so much more, but the reality is — not everything will or can get done. Sigh.
I am also feeling worn out — going away wears you out. I’m also according to my lady doctor, going through pre-menopause – so I’m all over the map hormonally. Getting older is such a joy — I can only imagine how much harder it would be if I wasn’t in shape. For about a week each month , I feel like a truck hit me when I try to get up in the morning. I know it’s shocking to some of you. I am so trained to get up early — thank GOD i am because if I wasn’t, there would be no way in hell I would get up based on the way I felt this morning. Sluggish, had some rough dreams, unsettled. And it showed in my workout today — I just wasn’t feeling most of it but if I skipped today, then Friday would be my make up day and I enjoy sleeping in a bit on Friday.

3rep Max SDHP – I did 65lbs because i am struggling with technique and bending my arms too early, muscling it up. I did try 90lbs but went back down so I can work on doing it properly.

We were told that we had to reach the 10ft target for it to count, so I went with a lower weight to ensure I hit it every time. If you have been following me, you know I am not a fan of Wall Balls OR Burpees. So a WOD with them together = evil.
I knew it was time to get organized when my garage would make a perfect scene for the next episode of Hoarders! So I spent the better part of 3 hours yesterday going through the crap – organizing, sweeping, cleaning, throwing things out — it looks really good. Do you ever notice after you clean like that – you start to feel a sense of calm? I do.
I was hoping we wouldn’t do pull ups today because Saturday after the WOD, I practiced them a ton with some of the CFI athletes and they hurt – the calluses are multiplying. Coach Marc said that give it a week of pain – it won’t be so painful anymore. I usually use gloves but I took them off on Saturday to see if it made a difference. Well, the only difference is my hands are freakin killing me.

So I loaded up 185# and tried it once — I lifted it. I decided to lower the weight because looking at the workout – burpees kill me and 5 rounds — I would rather be able to continue through the workout than have to stop continually. I probably could have gone up a bit more. Even though the workout was only 6m total – it was a killer and I definitely was spent at the end.
