Boot camp is off this week, but that doesn’t mean I’m off from working out. They say that wehn you do HIT training, its good to let your muscles rest a week from heavy lifting. So, I woke up as usual at 5a and got ready to head to Gold’s Gym for a more cardio based workout. As most of you know, we got hit with about 2 feet of snow so the ground and roads are very icy. But I went ahead and left without incident.
Got to the gym along with a handful of other people and had my 1 hr 15m workout – which I will post about later.
I head out to my car and wouldn’t you know it – my back driver’s side tire is blown. Way beyond flat! Just what I needed – and as my friend told me this morning, that is what you get for getting up that early to workout! 🙂 It’s 23 degrees outside, icy and we have to change a tire.
So I slow drive to the nearest gas station which in turn does NOT have a service center so Scotty has to get the kids up and bundled and come and help me change my tire. He arrived, got the tire changed and we headed to the Goodyear Auto place in a span of about 2 hours. Turns out the tire needs to be replaced!
What a way to start off the day. Car problems seem to stress me out more than a lot of other issues and this time, after talking to Scotty, i told myself to put it in perspective. It helped me realize that it’s just a tire that can be handled – no one got hurt, no one is stuck or worse. And what a wonderful feeling to know that I have Scotty – who came to my rescue and with calmness, handled the entire situation for me. Sometimes I need to be taken care of too and he seems to know when those times arise.
So my workout at Gold’s Gym:
5k treadmill run
weight training 2 sets:
25lb dumbell lunges
45lb back squats
25lb dumbell push presses
40lb side bends
25lb barbell overhead squats
10 bench jumps
Core:
6 inch leg raises
lower back leg extensions
upper back extensions
40 BOSU push-ups
Basic stretching
10 min on stairmill
I was a bit more sluggish than usual today and was wishing we had boot camp. I like to know that my workouts are pre-determined and that there are others waiting for me. I am not sure if I was off my game because of all the shoveling I have done the last 2 days and the cold weather or the Not Keepin’ It Clean eating I have done this past weekend… Let’s see what tomorrow holds.
What fitness activity did you do today?
One response to “Some mornings are harder than others…”
That whole tire thing is a pain, I had that happen earlier this year, although the tire became flat in my garage…still a hassle.
I also felt sluggish today…did 4.1 miles on the treadmill then really didn’t feel like doing much else. I don’t even know what I did in the weight area…lol. But I did some stuff and then said forget it and did 10 min on the elliptical. Hoping for a better day tomorrow as well. I’m thinking it’s a good week to focus on cardio and no weights and let some of my injuries heal.
