Lately – I have had the feeling that I am taking steps backwards in my fitness journey. My eating the past 2 weeks was crap — although yesterday I was focused and conscious of what I was eating.  But this morning — I felt like I was taking a step back in my workouts too. I am struggling with keeping up. I know part of it is the thick, humid weather. I just can’t breathe – inhaler or not. So when I saw the running today on the board, it was not a welcome site. I did make up time on the sit ups and good mornings, so It wasn’t all bad. I am just frustrated to see others pass me like it’s no sweat all the time. Yes, I am about 10 years old than them and have no younger years muscle memory, but still. And the flip side — why am I so hard on myself? What is it about a few of us out there that can’t see how far we have come and appreciate/celebrate that? When does it become good enough? Or is the answer, NEVER? Once again, some unflattering pics of me during our weekend trip have screwed with my mind. It’s so frustrating. I know in my mind that this won’t slow me down or negate what I have done — but it sure causes me more than a pause….

Living this ‘fit and healthy’ life ain’t easy – worth it, but not easy. Frankly its a pain in the ass and it loves to remind you of that fact often….and you have to remind yourself that the payoffs are worth the hassle.

  1. I understand where you’re coming from. It gets frustrating being the last person to finish. That being said, at least you’re doing it! A vast majority of the population doesn’t workout and even less put in the energy and intensity it takes to do CrossFit. You are an inspiration! Buck up…it’ll get better. And…you’re right. We’re never going to be satisfied with a workout. There will always be areas of improvement. Some workouts go better than others. Just remember where you’ve come from and all of the progress you’ve made.
